5 Signs Your Phone Battery Needs Replacing — Don't Ignore These

Smartphone batteries are consumable components — they degrade over time. After 2–3 years of daily use, most phone batteries have lost 20–30% of their original capacity. Here are the five warning signs that it's time for a professional battery replacement.

1. Your Phone Dies Before the Day Is Over

If your phone used to last a full day and now barely makes it to lunch, your battery's capacity has degraded significantly. On iPhones, check Settings → Battery → Battery Health — if it shows below 80%, Apple itself recommends replacement.

2. Random Shutdowns

Does your phone suddenly turn off at 30%, 20%, or even 50% battery? This is a classic sign of a worn battery that can no longer provide consistent voltage. The battery gauge becomes unreliable as the cells degrade.

3. Your Phone Gets Unusually Hot

While some warmth during heavy use is normal, excessive heat — especially during charging or standby — can indicate a failing battery. This is also a potential safety concern that shouldn't be ignored.

4. The Battery Is Physically Swollen

This is a safety emergency. If your phone's back is bulging, the screen is lifting away from the frame, or you notice any physical deformation, stop using the phone immediately. A swollen battery can rupture or catch fire. Bring it to us for safe removal right away.

5. Extremely Slow Charging

If your phone takes significantly longer to charge than it used to (and you've ruled out a faulty cable or charger), the battery cells may be degraded. Some older batteries charge to 80% quickly but take forever to reach 100% — another sign of wear.
